Melatonin in Cancer Care

You may have heard that melatonin is the great alternative to sleep medications, but did you know that melatonin is also a powerful agent in cancer?  In appropriate doses and in certain cancers, melatonin has been shown to increase tumor cell killing, decrease metabolic wasting symptoms, improve radiation outcomes and decrease negative chemotherapy effects when used in conjunction with select chemotherapy drugs.  Most importantly, melatonin has also been shown to improve survival time as a sole agent in terminal cancer patients.  If you want to maximize your cancer treatments or to find out more about naturopathic approaches to cancer care, book an appointment with our trained Naturopathic Doctors.
